Nothing compares to you…Stretch Armstrong

Sinead O´Connor - Nothing compares to you

What better way to celebrate the big V-Day than by singing along to all the best 90s love songs with a huge crowd, that may very well include your lovers and friends, but if it doesn’t no one will ever know.  And if you are really dreading that infamous pink Sunday, why not party it up on Saturday night so that by the time you recover Valentine’s Day will be nearly over.

In retrospect, the 90s really did supply us with some fabulous Valentine’s day tunes.  I bet you have sun along to Mariah’s Always Be My Baby (‘96) one too many times (hopefully not in public) and maybe suffered through Whitney’s I Will Always Love You (‘92) at the last wedding you attended.  Most likely you serenaded your High School sweetheart with Savage Garden’s Truly Madly Deeply (‘97) or perhaps Etheridge’s Come To My Window (‘94) was more your style…

But O’Connor’s Nothing Compares to You (‘90) is the only way to express how we feel about Stretch Armstrong, who is headlining all Valentine’s Day weekend (Friday at BLOW UP and Saturday at Club 1994).  Since the dawn of the ’90s, DJ Stretch Armstrong has been presenting up-and-coming MCs through his media barrage of radio programs, mixtapes, and even video games. His radio show debuted several of the ’90s’ biggest names in rap, including  the Notorious B.I.G., or just Biggie Smalls as he was known in 1991.

DJ Stretch Armstrong continued to introduce soon-to-be legends on his show, including Sean “Puffy” Combs… Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, and countless others.   Village Voice declared the Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show “the best hip-hop show in New York” and Source magazine voted it “the best hip-hop show of all time.”

So don’t miss out on this legendary event and come belt it out with all the true lovers (of the 90s).
